Audible Gasps

When visiting Switzerland and Austria in the summer of 2025, I experienced a quiet stillness I'm not used to. I live inside a teenager's busy mind - constantly occupied not only with the burden of errands to run and homework to do, but the anxieties that come with building your future and trying to figure out who it is you are and want to be. But standing on top of the world, priorities change and perspectives shift. It was so incredible to walk above the clouds themselves, unlike anything I had seen or felt. And I gasped. I wanted to just drink up the moment as much as I could before that kind of peace slipped into just a fleeting memory. These works are impressions of an audible gasp, the instinctive, unfiltered response to encountering something so vast and beautiful that language falls short. I chose to capture this grand enormity on a scale that’s physically small to convey how they feel looking back now - little reminders of moments that once felt infinite but now live quietly in memory, held in fragments rather than expanses. They hold that split second where cluttered thought disappears and feeling takes over, where the world feels both overwhelming and perfectly still. In that way, they’re not just representations of what I saw, but of how it felt to be fully present - if only for a moment.
