My Debt to Grace

My Debt to Grace captures a moment of overwhelming inheritance. While touring Europe with a choir, I visited La Madeleine in Paris, the culmination of thousands of ideas, perspectives, and passions. I imagined the countless hands that shaped each curve and figure without the tools we rely on today. As we sang Come Thou Fount and the words “O to grace how great a debtor” echoed through the space, I reflected on debts I can never repay - the artists whose shoulders I stand on, my family who made sacrifices to make that opportunity possible, and my Savior, who suffered everything for me. This painting captures a step into the cathedral - awe, inspiration, gratitude, and standing humbly amid what forever shapes us.
