I chose to highlight Stacee Mciff, the first female president of Snow College, because not only is she an incredible president, but she’s also one of the nicest people I have ever met! Her humility, selflessness, compassion, and love for Snow and the community surrounding it has not gone unnoticed by the people around her.
At her presidential inauguration, she requested that the celebration be about Snow College and not about herself. Stacee always puts her all into everything she does. She has always made an effort to reach out and get to know the students at Snow, as well as the faculty and staff who work at the college. I have multiple close family members who have worked with Stacee for years and are forever grateful for the lasting impact her leadership has made on not only their careers, but their lives in general!
My artwork tells her story because it captures both the professionalism and the kind, light-hearted nature Stacee has. It also represents her passion and drive. My painting is 8x10. The mediums used are watercolor and acrylic on watercolor paper. Through the colors used and Stacee’s facial expression and body language, my painting captures her mission and the difference she makes in my community.
Even with several noteworthy accomplishments, the thing that sets Stacee apart the most is the kind of person she is. With her servant leadership, she has changed Snow College and she has changed me. I hope that through my art, I can inspire others just the way she inspires me, to look outside myself and try my hardest to make other people happy.
As a Judges' Choice Winner in the She Started it 2024 Statewide Art Competition, I was given the opportunity to present my portrait of Stacee McIff at a display at the State Capitol, where my work was recognized by state legislators and Lieutenant Governor Henderson. The portrait was additionally displayed at the Mestizo Art Gallery in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake Gallery Stroll.
